Aerodynamics Inc. (ADI) and Oakland Air, two of the 11 service providers at Oakland County International Airport in Michigan, have combined their FBO service staffs and facilities but will continue to remain separate entities. The two companies–which occupy adjacent plots at the Pontiac airport–will now share their ramps and hangars, giving them a combined 12 acres of outdoor aircraft parking and 220,000 sq ft of heated indoor storage space, respectively.

Business Jet Center at Oakland International Airport has reported that last year was its best on record for fuel sales volume. The company noted a better than 28-percent increase in the number of gallons sold over 2009. The company also noted that this past January was the best month for fuel sales volume in the location’s six-year history, up nearly 20 percent over January 2010.

Business Jet Center at Oakland International Airport in Northern California has expanded its hangar space to more than 100,000 sq ft with the addition of a 15,000-sq-ft hangar. An ExxonMobil Avitat facility, Business Jet Center has seen demand for hangar space at Oakland grow steadily over the past 18 months, according to manager David Mills.

In the three years that Business Jet Center (BJC) has been open at Oakland (Calif.) International Airport, the FBO has doubled the number of gallons of fuel sold and traffic has jumped by 200 percent. The first quarter of this year continued strong, with fuel volume climbing 20 percent compared to the same period last year. “This is shaping up to be another solid year of growth for our location,” said general manager David Mills.

According to FBO KaiserAir, business jet traffic at Oakland International Airport has increased at least 25 percent since September 11. KaiserAir’s charter service has jumped a like amount, with inquiries up by at least 50 percent, said company v-p Sandy Waters.

If your destination lies within the shadow of the Golden Gate bridge, don’t think that San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is your only option. Oakland International Airport (OAK), which for decades was served by only one FBO, now sports two FBOs, with a third trying to wriggle its way in.

Business Jet Center’s Oakland, Calif. FBO added a new 15,000-sq-ft hangar and nearly 33,000 sq ft of ramp space to its leasehold. The FBO, which opened in 2003 in the renovated 1920s airport terminal building on the North Field side of the airport, now features more than 100,000 sq ft of hangar, maintenance and office space.

The former Oxnard Aircraft and Jet Center celebrated its addition to the Million Air chain at a grand-opening party on September 17. Located about halfway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, Oxnard Airport (OXR) has a 5,950-foot Runway 7/25 with ILS, GPS and VOR approaches.

Mireille’s Inflight Catering, headquartered at Long Beach, Calif., last month opened a fully equipped business aviation catering operation at San Francisco International Airport. The 1,500-sq-ft facility is under the direction of Mireille operations manager Eric Youe and offers catering services to San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose International Airports.
