On December 10, Landmark Aviation celebrated the grand opening of the FBO chain’s newly renovated FBO at Westchester County Airport in White Plains, N.Y. Landmark purchased the former facility in early 2006.

Elmira/Corning, N.Y.-based FirstFlight assumed operational control of the Downtown Manhattan Heliport on November 1. The heliport, located at Pier 6 on the East River in Lower Manhattan, is a primary source of helicopter service for corporate and tourism traffic, while also offering scheduled service to John F. Kennedy and Newark Liberty International Airports.
Stewart International Airport (SWF) in Newburgh, N.Y., is about to get its second FBO after several years of being served by one operation. CAS Handling of White Plains, N.Y., is scheduled to start pumping fuel and offering the typical business aircraft transient and tenant services in the fall, according to Stewart Airport operator National Express Corp.
Excelaire (Booth No. 723) announced at EBACE the opening of a new gateway to New York located at MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, Long Island. The facility offers international travelers on-site U.S. customs clearance, FBO services including fuel and maintenance, as well as ad hoc helicopter links to New York City. Deicing and hangar space for visiting aircraft are also available.
Associated British Ports of the UK is in negotiations with possible buyers of its American Port Services’ U.S. aviation businesses, including its AvCenter chain of FBOs and the management of several airports. The company reportedly is selling most of its U.S. Amports businesses because they don’t fit with the rest of the U.S. group, which operates primarily seaports.

The airport is operated under a 99-year lease from the state of New York by National Express Corp. (NEC), the U.S. branch of the UK’s National Express Group, a $3.7 billion holding company.
