Wichita-based EagleMed enlisted Baldwin Safety & Compliance as an additional resource for the critical care aeromedical transport company’s safety management system (SMS) needs. EagleMed president Larry Bugg said Baldwin’s added services will bolster EagleMed’s “ongoing efforts” to enhance its safety management system. “Baldwin’s comprehensive set of safety management tools will be an added benefit to the company and our patients as we progress toward level three of the FAA’s SMS program,” Bugg said.

Honeywell Aerospace will be the exclusive hardware provider of domestic air-to-ground communication for AT&T’s planned in-flight connectivity services, which will bring faster Wi-Fi to passengers on airliners and business jets. With the new 4G LTE service, passengers will experience air-to-ground speeds significantly higher than today’s. Under terms of an agreement in principle with AT&T, Honeywell exclusively will build and deliver aircraft hardware needed to connect to AT&T’s planned air-to-ground system in the U.S.

Moog’s third-generation lightweight Moog-FTS Stores Management System (SMS) is flying with the Bell 407GT and the MD530G and can be adapted easily to other platforms, said Jason Reichard, Moog business unit director. Reichard said that the main advantages of the new system are its lower cost, much lighter weight and ease of installation across a variety of platforms including helicopter, fixed-wing, marine and land.

The SoCal Aviation Association (SCAA) has developed what might be the first business aviation-focused system in the U.S. to allow users to read and interact with operational safety data from other members of the same organization. Called Share (Safety Hazard Awareness Reporting & Empowerment), the program uses an open-format interface created by Baldwin Aviation and does not require an operating safety management system (SMS).

The International Business Aviation Council is holding an International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) Workshop in Madrid on March 4 and 5. The first-day session assists operators with IS-BAO implementation and provides a practical approach to managing an SMS. The second-day workshop is intended to train IS-BAO auditors, as well as help operators conduct internal audits and validate their SMS performance.

Dassault Falcon plans to launch its super-midsize (SMS) trijet on October 22 at the NBAA Convention in Las Vegas. In July last year, the first SMS parts were being manufactured for testing purposes at Dassault’s Argenteuil factory northwest of Paris.
