Aviation system manufacturer Liebherr-Aerospace (Booth No. 1316) of Toulouse, France is exhibiting its landing gear, actuation, flight control and additional systems for business jets and helicopters at NBAA’12. Liebherr provides support for its equipment with component repair, technical expertise and spares distribution services. Its customer service organization is represented in the U.S. by Liebherr Aerospace Saline, with offices in Saline, Mich., Seattle and Wichita.

NBAA’s 65th Annual Meeting and Convention comes a little later than normal this year, October 30 through November 1. The main event takes place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. And like last year’s event, this year’s will feature two static displays, the regular large gathering at Orlando Executive Airport, hosted by Showalter Flying Service, and a smaller on-site display next to the convention center.

Four companies received the Safety of Flight Award at EBACE 2012 in Geneva, earlier this month.

DC Aviation, TAG Aviation and PrivatAir won the platinum award for achieving at least 50 years, or 100,000 hours of safe flying. VistaJet received the silver award for 30 years, or 60,000 hours, of accident-free flying.

Launch of the ViaSat-1 high-capacity, Ka-band, spot-beam satellite has been set for Wednesday, October 19 at 18:48 GMT from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan aboard a Russian Proton M launch vehicle. The satellite will enable the broadband multimedia Internet access that ViaSat, of Carlsbad, Calif., expects to provide over the next decade to meet an accelerating growth in airborne bandwidth demand.
