Hawker Beechcraft Services (HBS) has expanded its aircraft maintenance facility at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Ariz. The recently completed $14 million project added a second 26,000-sq-ft hangar which includes 22,000 sq ft of back shops, administrative offices and a customer lobby. The enhanced customer space offers guest offices for customers to use while their aircraft are being serviced.

West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Greenjets said its shared-ride charter jet membership service has been growing quickly since it was launched in April last year. “Our business has been doubling or tripling every month,” company president Dean Rotchin told AIN. Greenjets allows customers to book seats and share charter jets, thereby reducing the cost and per-passenger carbon footprint for each flight.

The FAA approved increasing the mtow at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona
to 100,000 pounds, according to NBAA, which worked with the Arizona Business Aviation Association and the local community to secure the approval. The Scottsdale City Council raised the previous limit of 75,000 pounds to 100,000 pounds late last year.

NBAA on Friday praised the Arizona Business Aviation Association (AZBAA) and local city leaders in Scottsdale, Ariz., on the decision last week to raise the aircraft weight limit for Scottsdale Airport from 75,000 to 100,000 pounds. The move, which NBAA said will attract more business and economic activity to the community, follows more than a year of advocacy work by the AZBAA.

Cessna opened its Mesa Citation Service Center adjacent to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Ariz., last month, having moved to the area from Long Beach, Calif. The company constructed a 101,000-sq-ft facility that includes 62,400 sq ft of hangar space along with office and backshop areas.

While Cessna Aircraft is closing its Toledo, Ohio Citation service center at the end of next month, the company celebrated the opening of its new Mesa Citation service center at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport last week. The new center replaces the company’s former Long Beach service center in Southern California, which was half the size and had one-tenth the ramp space and no room for expansion.

Dallas Airmotive, a BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) company, has moved its Phoenix regional turbine center from Scottsdale Airpark to a new facility next to Deer Valley Airport. At 7,500 sq ft, the new facility is twice the size of the Deer Valley building.

Project Phoenix, launched in 2007 to broker the acquisition and sale of CRJ200 regional jets in an executive configuration, recently announced an agreement with remote medical assistance specialist MedAire to provide a complimentary MedAire package. It will include a one-year subscription that connects passengers and crew to doctors at MedAire’s 24/7 MedLink Global Response center in Phoenix.
