Lufthansa Technik Aero Alzey (LTAA) and Air Mauritius have signed an exclusive agreement for the maintenance, repair and overhaul services of the airline’s ATR fleet powered by the P&WC PW127. The ATRs are used mainly to connect Mauritius with regional islands Rodrigues and Reunion.

Lufthansa Technik plans to build a new aircraft maintenance hangar at the future Berlin Brandenburg International airport. The new hangar, which is expected to enter service in 2012, will have three bays for short- and medium-range aircraft.

Volvo Aero and Lufthansa Technik will jointly develop new repair methods for structural parts of large commercial aircraft engines. The two companies will also cooperate in the appropriate certification processes, the repair services and the marketing and sales activities for the business.

Lufthansa Technik’s new VIP cabin quick-change kit allows operators to switch a narrowbody commercial airline interior to VIP configuration overnight. The kit eliminates the need for an operator to maintain a VIP aircraft permanently in that configuration, adding the flexibility to fly commercial passengers then quickly switch to a customized VIP interior.

Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) yesterday signed an agreement with low-cost long-haul carrier Air Asia X for maintenance, repair and overhaul services (MRO) at its Manila facilities. Beginning in March the Malaysia-based operator’s fleet of eight Airbus A330s and A340s will be supported under the three-year contract.

National Air Services (NAS) of Saudi Arabia has signed a five-year contract with Lufthansa Technik for total component support (TCS) for up to 40 aircraft. The agreement includes services for several executive jets based on single-aisle airliners. Moreover, both Lufthansa Technik and NAS Group are evaluating opportunities to cooperate in aircraft maintenance.

Maintenance customers of Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) at Berlin-Schönefeld in Germany can earn loyalty points in the company’s new Maintenance Plus program. Three loyalty levels are offered–platinum, gold or silver–each with different incentives that might include special AOG support and customized maintenance contracts, according to LBAS.
