San Francisco-based Macquarie Rotorcraft Leasing (MRL, Booth No. 7802) announced yesterday here at Heli-Expo the purchases of two Sikorsky S-92A twin-engine helicopters for its growing fleet aimed at supporting operators in the oil-and-gas and search-and-rescue markets. The two S-92s will be leased back to Avincis subsidiary Bond Offshore Helicopters and will be delivered in the second quarter of 2014.

Macquarie Group has launched a new helicopter leasing company, Macquarie Rotorcraft Leasing, headquartered in San Francisco. The new company is headed by CEO Jeffrey Pino, formerly president of Sikorsky Aircraft. James Clarke, most recently CFO at Air Lease, is COO of Macquarie Rotorcraft Leasing. The leadership team also includes chief marketing officer Steve Estill and chief technical officer Greg A’slinger, former owner of Uniflight. The new company specializes in supplying helicopters for oil and gas, medical transport, search-and-rescue and executive transport.

Sentient Jet Holdings announced yesterday that it will be splitting into two separate companies. Chairman Greg Campbell will retain control of aircraft management and charter operations, technical services and the FBO business, with Jake Cartwright serving as president and CEO of the management and charter division, which will be rebranded. Cartwright previously served as president and CEO of TAG Aviation USA.

Universal Weather & Aviation’s deal to enter into a partnership with Australia’s Macquarie Group is off, according to both companies. On November 21, Universal chairman and owner Greg Evans signed an agreement to partner with a Macquarie Capital Alliance Group and Macquarie Global Opportunities Partners consortium.

Global investment and financial management firm Macquarie Group has partnered with Houston-based trip services provider Universal Weather & Aviation. According to the terms of the agreement–currently undergoing regulatory review–Greg Evans, owner of Universal, will sell approximately 45 percent of the financial interest to the Macquarie Consortium.

The most recent Securities and Exchange Commission quarterly 10-Q report filed by publicly traded Macquarie Group revealed that the company is paying $85 million to buy two FBOs, the Supermarine facilities at Santa Monica Airport in California and at Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y. The company is also setting aside an additional $4.5 million to cover transaction and integration costs and reserve funding.

Macquarie Infrastructure, a New York subsidiary of Australia-based Macquarie Bank, late last month entered into an agreement to purchase Trajen Holding, including its network of FBOs, for nearly $339 million. Trajen operates 21 facilities and is in the process of acquiring two more that are expected to be a part of the Macquarie purchase.

Macquarie Infrastructure, a New York subsidiary of Australia-based Macquarie Bank, completed its $58.2 million purchase of Las Vegas Executive Terminal. One of two FBOs at McCarran International Airport, the facility has been renamed Atlantic Aviation, joining the Macquarie-owned FBO chain.
