Hawthorne Global Aviation Services has acquired a second FBO in its bid to establish a network. The South Carolina-based company, which has an 80-year heritage in aviation, purchased a controlling interest in the Aeropremier facility at New Orleans Lakefront Airport and will rebrand it as a Hawthorne property. The location, which completed extensive renovations earlier this year, has more than 50,000 sq ft of hangar space and can accommodate aircraft up to the size of a G550.

ExcelAire (Stand Nos. 908/200) has received UK Civil Aviation Authority approval to operate its Embraer Legacy 600s into London City Airport (LCY) and is offering charter services effective immediately.
Excelaire (Booth No. 723) announced at EBACE the opening of a new gateway to New York located at MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, Long Island. The facility offers international travelers on-site U.S. customs clearance, FBO services including fuel and maintenance, as well as ad hoc helicopter links to New York City. Deicing and hangar space for visiting aircraft are also available.
All three Long Island (N.Y.) Jet Centers (LIJC) will soon get major facelifts. The three separate projects are expected to cost about $50 million, collectively, with work starting early next year and taking up to three years to finish. Long Island Jet Centers include facilities at Francis Gabreski Airport (FOK) in Westhampton Beach; MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip; and Republic Airport in Farmingdale.
Global Aircraft of Ronkonkoma, N.Y,. received JAR 145 certification on September 10, allowing the company to work on JAA-certified aircraft. The company, which opened for business about a year ago, also has its FAR Part 145 certification and has completed six Gulfstream interior refurbishments.
ExcelAire has expanded its facilities at Islip MacArthur Airport in Long Island, N.Y., with the acquisition of a 110,000-sq-ft FBO. The facility–formerly owned by Garrett Aviation– offers fuel and line service, as well as passenger and crew services. The company has also expanded the scope of its maintenance, management and charter services as a result of the extension.
New York Jet Corporate Flight Center at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, N.Y., is celebrating its 60th year as an FBO. Recent changes include a renovated flight-planning room and new kitchen and a 35-foot glass-atrium reception area. Pilot amenities include wireless Internet access, Cadillac crew cars, satellite television
and a refreshment lounge.
