Helicopter operators wanting to fly into London now have a less costly alternative to the London Heliport at Battersea. Aircraft charter broker Jet Booking Direct is offering the use of a temporary landing site at The Ham Polo Club for VFR movements only.
The new passenger terminal at the London Heliport was officially opened on July 13. The facility is operated and managed by PremiAir on behalf of its parent company von Essen Group, which is due to open its new Hotel Verta on the same site next month.
PremiAir is expanding its fixed-wing activities, by establishing a new charter and management operation at London Biggin Hill Airport together with an additional maintenance facility.
London Heliport Opens New Terminal
The new passenger terminal at the London Heliport officially opened on Tuesday. The facility is operated and managed by PremiAir on behalf of its parent company, von Essen Group, which is due to open its new Hotel Verta at the same site in September. Located at Battersea on the south bank of the Thames River, the London Heliport remains the UK capital’s sole licensed heliport.
UK helicopter charter operator PremiAir is offering helicopter charters from
the London Heliport to the Farnborough International Airshow (July 19 to 25).
PremiAir, the operator of the London Heliport (also known as Battersea), is to open a new passenger terminal “this spring.” It will replace a 50-year-old building that is to be demolished. The increased ramp space will provide greater capacity at peak times. The new facilities were formally handed over by the builder, Weston Homes, on February 11.
The extensively redeveloped London Heliport is set to reopen this spring. It is owned by charter operator PremiAir and is situated at Battersea on the south bank of the Thames River about four miles from the center of London. The new terminal is directly connected to the new five-star Hotel Verta, which is owned by PremiAir’s parent company von Essen Hotels.
The new Global Executive Helicopter Network (GEHN) began operations on May 1 as a transatlantic alliance of helicopter charter providers. The program has been launched by Sikorsky’s Associated Aircraft Group (AAG) subsidiary, which operates 10 S-76s in the northeastern U.S.
PremiAir is set to complete the relocation of its Hawker Beechcraft authorized service center to Oxford from Blackbushe Airport near Farnborough early this month. The business aircraft services group has leased a former CSE Aviation hangar, with Oxford Airport investing almost $2 million to overhaul and expand the facility.
