Construction is nearing completion on A J Walter Aviation’s 60-acre headquarters and logistics campus near London Gatwick Airport. The site will include a headquarters office and storage facilities for the company’s inventory of Airbus and Boeing components and consumables.

Southeast England is going to be a busy place from the middle of July to mid-August as visitors and competitors converge on London for the 2012 Olympic Games, and planning earlier than usual is going to be the key for business aviation operators hoping to get in and out of London-area airports, although they could still face delays.

The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has launched a campaign to educate those operating to and from the 2012 London Olympic Games this summer about the airspace restrictions to be imposed and how to handle them. Major restrictions will be in place centered over London and the Olympic Park from July 14 to August 15, with lesser restrictions for the Paralympic Games from August 16 to September 12.

A study commissioned by the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) and the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) contends that changes to slot allocation rules proposed by the European Commission would penalize regional carriers, regional airports and business aviation operators and lead to job losses in Europe.

A J Walter Aviation (AJW) has introduced a preferred-spares support service for corporate and private clients. The service, which is being offered in conjunction with Washington, D.C.-based Loudoun Aviation, has already signed several clients. UK-based Acropolis Aviation, a charter and aircraft management firm, has chosen AJW (Booth No. N612) to provide leasing pool access support for its ACJ319 and Comlux Aviation Group is using AJW for its Boeing 767 and Airbus fleet.

BAA will have to sell Stansted Airport—as well as one of two Scottish Airport...

The UK Competition Commission last week confirmed that BAA, the UK airports group purchased by Spain’s Ferrovial Group in 2006, must sell London Stansted Airport and one of its Scottish airports, Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Redhill Aerodrome, a grass strip close to London Gatwick Airport, is seeking permission to build a 3,671-foot concrete runway in a bid to attract very light jets. The privately owned airfield is about 24 miles south of the center of the UK capital. Public consultation on Redhill’s new master plan will end on October 31, after which the airfield’s owners will officially apply for permission to proceed with the development.
