The U.S. Army called them scroungers; the aviation industry gives them a more professional name: acquisition specialists. Whatever you call them, the industry variation travels from airport to airport poking around, asking questions and finding treasures in the form of used parts.
One of the cornerstones of aviation is trust. Because it has been part of our foundation for so long, we don’t even think about it; it is just there. The rules that we operate under also assume that all airmen will be trustworthy individuals and will follow both the published rules and the spirit and intent of those rules.
Houston-based handling agent Universal Weather & Aviation has purchased Cornerstone Logic, creator of software package FBO Manager. The software company will continue to be based in Edgewater, Fla., and its founder, John Nelson, has been named its vice president.
