Alphabeam II LED landing lights are designed specifically for business aviation and have a calculated MTBF of 30,000 hours.

Los Angeles-based Teledyne Reynolds Lighting & Display (Booth No. C12443) received FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) approval on July 11 for its Alphabeam II LED aviation lights for business jets, which the company is showing here at NBAA 2013 for the first time. The lights are drop-in replacements for incandescent and halogen lamps and require no modification to the aircraft for installation.

LED replacement bulb

Aircraft Lighting International has introduced an LED reading light bulb that is a direct replacement for 28V DC/AC miniature incandescent halogen lamps.

According to Nick Michelinakis, owner of the Mount Sinai, N.Y.-based company, “absolutely no changes or modifications to the reading light fixtures are necessary.” Other advantages include lower power draw, virtually no heat generation and a five-year warranty.

Luma Technologies (Booth No. 3583) has introduced a suite of integrated LED displays for King Airs. The product is designed to replace aging and problematic incandescent caution/warning panels.

In the past, LED (light-emitting diode) lighting was just one small piece of the total cabin lighting puzzle, said Rod Stoehr, general manager of B/E Aerospace’s Holbrook, N.Y. facility near Long Island MacArthur Airport. “Now we’re offering the whole LED package.”

That package includes indirect-wash cabin lighting, adjustable overhead reading lights, and flexible-arm reading lights.

An Australian company has developed a new searchlight that can illuminate a greater area from a longer distance, yet which is claimed to offer significant weight and cost advantages over the current industry standard. It is being launched here at Heli-Expo (Booth 4002).
