Bermuda’s ATC radar is expected to be out of service for an unspecified “extended period of time,” according to a notice to airmen (Notam) released March 20. This means pilots heading for the Atlantic island had better brush up on their non-radar ATC procedures.

L.F. Wade Bermuda International Airport now has a newly renovated private jet terminal. The LOM Group has assumed a five-year sponsorship of the terminal now known as the LOM Executive Jet Facility at Hamilton Airport, Bermuda. Owned and operated by Bermuda Aviation Services, the terminal–located across the tarmac from the airline center–serves the more than 2,000 private jets that visit the island every year.

Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport is now closed to general aviation and non-scheduled commercial traffic between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The airport, which recently obtained civil certification, formerly received infrastructure support from the U.S. military for 24/7 ATC operations and aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF).

As of last Wednesday, Bermuda L.F. As of November 18, Bermuda is requiring all foreign operators of business aircraft with an mtow of more than 12,500 pounds to have a safety management system (SMS) and meet other requirements under ICAO Annex 6.2.3.
