Lawyers acting for European private jet club start-up Jet Republic are seeking to lift a legal injunction secured by rival fractional ownership provider NetJets Europe that has prevented it from hiring NetJets employees. A Portuguese court granted the injunction in July last year, three months before Jet Republic was officially launched.

European fractional ownership provider Jet Republic is now trying to sell whole midsize business aircraft. Under its new Free to Fly program announced at the end of June, the company is offering Bombardier Learjet 60XRs for $13.5 million, at what it claims is a discount of more than $1 million off the full list price of $14.6 million.

New private jet fractional ownership partner Jet Republic yesterday joined Bombardier Aerospace’s Offset Program for its initial fleet of 25 Learjet 60XRs that are set to be delivered over the next two years, starting in October. Jet Republic could eventually take delivery of up to 110 Learjet 60XRs if it exercises all of its options.

European fractional ownership hopeful Jet Republic has selected Aircell’s SwiftBroadband satcom systems for its entire fleet of Learjets in a contract that eventually could cover 110 systems. The contract is the largest to date for gear designed to connect with the Inmarsat satellite data and voice communications service.

New fractional ownership provider Jet Republic is putting a decidedly European imprint on the interiors and entire cabin layouts of its 110 new Learjet 60XRs, with the blessing of manufacturer Bombardier.

Drawing on the creative expertise of respected aircraft interior designer Jose Luiz Monteiro, Jet Republic said the cabins of its Learjet 60XRs will be crafted by Europeans for Europeans.

This program will enable aircrew and passengers to access all WhiteConcierge services, which the company groups into four main categories: personal emergency services; travel and reservations service; proactive lifestyle management; and virtual private assistant.

New European fractional ownership provider Jet Republic says it is capitalizing on the downturn in both air transport and business aviation. The company, which in September is due to take delivery of the first of up to 110 Bombardier Learjet 60XRs for which it has orders and options, said it is receiving more inquiries than it had anticipated from people who previously owned their own aircraft.

Against a backdrop of tumbling stock markets and the most serious banking crisis in a century, Jet Republic has launched what it bills as the most direct challenge yet to NetJets’ dominance of the European fractional ownership market. The company has committed to buying as many as 110 Bombardier Learjet 60XRs. The first 25 of these are under firm order, with deliveries due to begin next October, at a rate of about one each month.
