The Gulfstream Elite interior concept that made its debut in the G650 and found its second application in the G450, has now arrived–literally–here in Las Vegas, in a G550. It is on display, inside N550GA, at Henderson Executive Airport during NBAA 2013. To date, Gulfstream has delivered some 30 Elite cabins.
Boeing’s new iPad application, Maintenance Turn Time, provides access to manuals, part numbers and other information to resolve maintenance issues plane-side and collaborate with anyone with Internet access. Included are Toolbox Mobile Library (mx document access), hyperlinks between multiple manuals, Toolbox Mobile Parts with part availability, and Maintenance Turn Time, which gives technicians a secure connection to collaborate with colleagues when troubleshooting a maintenance issue.
Flying Colours of Peterborough, Ontario, has completed its fifth Global Express refurbishment and maintenance project in the past 12 months. The airplane has been delivered to its Malaysian owner.
The interior refurbishment restored all the interior soft woods and woodwork, and an upgrade of the entertainment system includes iPad holders and iPod docks. During the downtime, Flying Colours also performed numerous maintenance inspections and airframe and systems modifications.

Lufthansa Technik and Panasonic Avionics formed a 50-50 joint venture in executive/VIP cabin electronics, and the new company–IDair–made its trade-show debut last month at Ebace. The backbone of the IDair system is a combination of the Panasonic eX2 with components from Lufthansa Technik’s networked, integrated cabin equipment (Nice) system.
As a follow-on to its retrofit Select CMS (cabin management system) for super-midsize and large-cabin business jets and single-aisle bizliners, Flight Display Systems is offering a scaled-down Club CMS retrofit package for midsize and light jets.
With completion of its acquisition of most of the former DeCrane Aerospace assets, Goodrich of Charlotte, N.C., showcased its expanded completion and refurbishment capability at the NBAA Convention in October.
Flight Display Systems has gone Hollywood, in a manner of speaking. To be more specific, the Alpharetta, Ga.-based cabin entertainment specialist provided a 42-inch, high-definition, LCD widescreen monitor for the recently completed Gulfstream III cabin of a Hollywood producer.
Embraer has selected Honeywell’s Ovation Select cabin management system for the Brazilian OEM’s new mid-light Legacy 450 and midsize Legacy 500 business jets.
The choice was announced here Monday by both companies. No value was placed on the contract. The new Legacy programs were launched in 2008. The Legacy 500 is expected to enter service in the second half of 2012 and the Legacy 450 in the second half of 2013.
