Rockwell Collins appointed Robert “Kelly” Ortberg as the company’s president yesterday. He joins Clayton Jones, who continues as chairman and CEO, in the newly formed Office of the Chief Executive. The appointment is effective immediately. As president, Ortberg will be primarily responsible for the operational management of the company, including oversight of its commercial and government businesses and supporting functions.

Rockwell Collins now offers its Airshow 3-D moving map for viewing on an iPad, allowing business jet passengers to follow their flight in the palm of their hands. The company claims it is the first interactive moving map available for iPad use in an aircraft.

In response to historic flooding in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area in June, Rockwell Collins made a $2 million contribution to aid local flood relief efforts. The funds will be used to support the immediate needs of flood victims, as well as ongoing clean-up and restoration activities. The company has also established the Rockwell Collins Flood Recovery Fund to enable employees, retirees and suppliers to donate to flood relief efforts.
Embraer has named Elliott Aviation an authorized service center for the Phenom 100 and 300. The agreement includes routine inspections, scheduled and unscheduled airframe, engine, avionics and other systems maintenance and repairs. The company has facilities in Moline, Ill.; Des Moines, Iowa; Minneapolis; and Omaha, Neb.
