Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen Executive Airport (Stand 1943) has named Yousif Hassan Al Hammadi as acting general manager, with immediate effect. Until recently, Yousif was chairman of the organizing committee of Abu Dhabi Air Expo. He is also the president of the recently formed Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association branch in the United Arab Emirates.

The fastest growing traffic segment in the quarter at Al Bateen was visiting aircraft operations, which soared by 42 percent, to 202 movements. Al Jaber Aviation (Stand No. 415) yesterday unveiled details of its entry into the VIP and corporate aviation market and announced a $1.2 billion investment for the acquisition of no fewer than 21 aircraft. Real Executive is to start a new venture in the United Arab Emirates based at the City Airport Abu Dhabi. There it will be partnered with Elite Aviation and initially draw on the existing fleet comprising a Challenger 601 and Falcon 900EX Easy. These will shortly be joined by a Global Express and Gulfstream 200 and there are plans to add a Gulfstream 150 in January.
The UAE capital’s new dedicated private jet airport has been renamed City Airport Abu Dhabi as part of its overhaul and transformation from its former Al Bateen airbase identity. The name change is intended to highlight the airport’s convenient location, just six kilometers from the city center. The airport is just a 10-minute drive from the Corniche and three miles from the Abu Dhabi’s business district.
