Helicopter Association International (HAI) president Matt Zuccaro fired back at the White House following its late February call for an end to the alternate depreciation tax plan for corporate aircraft. The tax plan allows buyers of general aviation aircraft to depreciate their purchases over five years rather than the seven-year depreciation mandated for commercial aviation.

AAR has signed an agreement to acquire Aviation Worldwide Services (AWS) from Xe Services. AWS provides expeditionary airlift services and aircraft modifications to the U.S. and other government customers. According to a spokesman, the company is acquiring the business as part of its long-term strategy to expand its products, services and capabilities in support of government customers in the U.S. and abroad.

It seems every aviation-related publication I have read for almost a year has included an article about last September’s tragic midair in Brazil. The event certainly warrants widespread attention. However, the discussion so far has not dug deeply enough into the larger issue of what happens to the flight crew in the event of an accident, especially in a country where an accident investigation is a criminal investigation.
