Arinc Direct (Booth No. 2155) has released a new version of its iPad app, which has proved popular with flight departments worldwide. The latest version, 3.0, provides “a host of document-management functions that simplify flight-planning needs by putting important information at a pilot’s fingertips,” said the Annapolis, Md.-based company (which is in the process of being sold by The Carlyle Group to Rockwell Collins).

As Arinc Direct approaches its tenth anniversary next month, success in the Asian market has been such that the data and communications specialist has appointed a full-time Asia Pacific division director: Monte Bolt, who is based in Singapore. Bolt heads a team supporting an Asian customer base that has surpassed 200 aircraft.

Since the EBACE show in May, Arinc Direct has added more than 50 business aircraft to the international fleet it supports.

Arinc has adjusted the pricing structure for its datalink services by introducing a flat fee for global communications via VHF Inmarsat and Iridium. According to the company, this will reduce or at least stabilize costs for operators at a time when they can ill-afford to incur unexpected fees.
