Bacacheri Airport Third Busiest in Brazil

Bacacheri Airport in the city of Curitiba, approximately 150 miles south of São Paulo, has been named the third largest general aviation airport in Brazil. A survey conducted by ABAG (Associação Brasileira de Aviação Geral, Brazilian Association of General Aviation) showed the airport handled 52,786 movements in 2011, trailing only Campo de Marte Airport in São Paulo and Jacarepauá Airport in Rio de Janeiro.

LABACE 2013 Confirmed for Congonhas

“LABACE 2013 will take place once again at Congonhas Airport [in São Paulo, Brazil], on the announced dates of August 14, 15 and 16,” Ricardo Nogueira, executive director of organizer ABAG, told AIN late last week, just before Carnaval began in Brazil. “Infraero, which manages the airport, gave the green light” just last Wednesday, he said. Concerns about possible contamination from fuel tanks abandoned by bankrupt airline VASP prompted extensive testing and the delay.

Brazilian company opens new bizav maintenance facility

One year after beginning construction at its new maintenance facility, Táxi Aéreo Marília (TAM) has begun operations at its Jundiaí center, which will allow the company to handle 120 aircraft per month, double the number it services at its Congonhas facility. The new center briefly wears the crown as the largest business aviation maintenance facility in the world until Cessna inaugurates its new facility in Wichita this month.

LABACE 2005: Jet Aviation to Open its First Latin American FBO

Jet Aviation has announced that it will invest between $8 and $10 million to build an FBO at Viracopos Airport in Campinas, about 62 miles from São Paulo. The operation will be Jet Aviation’s first in Latin America and will offer aircraft maintenance and ground services.
