LoPresti Aviation received FAA STC approval for BoomBeam high-intensity discharge (HID) lights on the Cessna Citation Excel/XLS. The company’s metal halide-xenon bulbs contain no filament and, as such, come with a 5,000-hour/five-year warranty, LoPresti said. Further, the HID light system draws less power than conventional incandescent bulbs, while at the same time offering five times the brightness of a 100-Watt sealed beam light.

In the past, LED (light-emitting diode) lighting was just one small piece of the total cabin lighting puzzle, said Rod Stoehr, general manager of B/E Aerospace’s Holbrook, N.Y. facility near Long Island MacArthur Airport. “Now we’re offering the whole LED package.”
That package includes indirect-wash cabin lighting, adjustable overhead reading lights, and flexible-arm reading lights.

Prices of another 2,700 Gulfstream spare parts have been cut as of late last month. This is in addition to the 7,000 parts for which Gulfstream has already lowered prices since April 2002. The new price reductions apply to parts such as tires, wheels, washers, light bulbs, actuators, windows and windshields. Gulfstream includes a one year/1,000-hour warranty on all parts.
In March Gulfstream launched a program in which it pledged to match competitors’ parts prices for large-cabin Gulfstreams. The “Meet the Quote” program, originally scheduled to end May 15, has been extended to the end of July and expanded to include parts for the G100 and G200. If it costs less than Gulfstream’s price for the same part in “comparable condition, age and warranty,” Gulfstream will match price.
