Hillsboro Aviation (Booth No. 9246) has purchased the assets of Heli-Trade, including tooling, equipment, fuselages, and parts for the Bell 205 and related STCs. Heli-Trade specialized in the Bell 205/UH-1 and related models including repairs, service, and aftermarket upgrades.

Hillsboro Aviation (Booth No. 1350) continues to grow its business in China. The company currently has more than 100 Chinese airplane and helicopter student pilots training at its Hillsboro, Ore., facility and is the only Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) approved school for both airplane and helicopter training in the U.S.

Hillsboro Aviation executives believe the company is being punished for good behavior.

The operator of the world’s second-largest civil helicopter flight school said it will fight a proposed $580,000 FAA civil penalty for alleged maintenance and air safety issues that occurred in 2008 and were voluntarily reported to the agency, and that it has already spent “millions of dollars” correcting.

Helicopter sales and services company Hillsboro Aviation (Booth No. 3568) announced a record-setting year for its helicopter sales department. Bell 206L-1 LongRanger, Heber Springs, Ark., Aug. 11, 2008–The LongRanger, registered to Hillsboro Aviation of Hillsboro, Ore., partially lost engine power while maneuvering near Heber Springs. In the course of a forced landing, the tailboom separated, the main rotor blades bent and the right side of the fuselage was damaged. The ATP-rated pilot, the sole occupant, was not injured.
