The first prototype of two-seater trainer version of India’s single-seat Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) made its maiden flight on November 26. Taking off from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) Bangalore airfield, the aircraft achieved an altitude of 30,000 feet and speed of Mach 0.85. Among the most eagerly awaited show participants listed in pre-Paris releases was the HAL Tejas–India’s Light Combat Aircraft. Two were originally on the list, of which one was due to fly in the air display. However, a new urgency has descended on the program, and the aircraft could not be spared from test flights.
