Signature Flight Support acquisition personnel have had a busy first half of the year. Late last month, they closed on a deal to acquire the AirKaman FBO at Jacksonville (Fla.) International Airport (JAX) for an undisclosed sum. The facility, which becomes Signature’s 44th, services corporate aircraft and has contracts for airline refueling and servicing.
Greater Jacksonville
The Jet Center Aviation Group recently announced it has signed a long-term lease with the airport authority at Jacksonville (Fla.) International Airport and will build a new FBO there. The facility will be the fourth for the small Florida chain, which also has facilities at Hollywood International, Miami International and Daytona Beach International Airports.
AeroShares, a new company based at St. Johns County Airport in St. Augustine, Fla., launched a fractional-ownership program to serve travelers who fly throughout the Southeast. The company intends to use a fleet of three pre-owned King Air B200s to fly to and from destinations within a 700-mile radius of St. Augustine. At press time, AeroShares had started operating one B200 for three shareowners.
Former HAI president Roy Resavage died last month after a long illness. He was 62. Resavage spent seven years at the helm of HAI, where he led the association through difficult financial times. He is credited with improving operational efficiency and the financial health of the association, as well as increasing attendance at Heli-Expo.
