Epic Aircraft said it remains on schedule to certify its E1000 all-composite turboprop single by the middle of next year. Deliveries of the $2.75 million airplane are slated to begin in the second half of next year.

The E1000 will be a certified version of the kit-built Epic LT with a 1,200-shp Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6-67A engine and Garmin G1000 glass cockpit. Preliminary performance and specifications include a 325-knot top cruise speed, 1,600-nm range and a 34,000-foot ceiling.

Elliott Aviation has received FAA STC certification for the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics MD302 standby attitude module as part of its Garmin G1000 avionics upgrade in King Airs. The MD302 provides attitude, altitude, airspeed and slip information to the pilot during normal operation or in the case of primary instrument failure, enhancing system reliability and reducing pilot workload. The compact, self-contained, solid-state instrument fits in less panel space than a standard set of two-inch mechanical attitude, altitude and airspeed indicators.

Cessna Aircraft marked an early New Year celebration yesterday with the first deliveries of both the Citation M2 and the Citation Sovereign+. The $4.395 million M2 is a derivative of Cessna’s CJ1 and retains the same C525 type designation as the aircraft from which it is derived. Featured are such major upgrades as winglets, the new Intrinzic cockpit powered by Garmin G3000 touchscreen avionics, a restyled cabin and cockpit and new Williams International FJ44-1AP-21 engines.

Cobham Integrated Systems of Mineral Wells, Texas, announced the S-Tec 5000 autopilot for jet and turboprop aircraft, at NBAA 2013. The new three-axis autopilot, which accommodates a full digital or a combination digital and analog interface, will be certified to meet the requirements for use in Part 25 aircraft.

Appareo Systems (Booth No. 351), a designer and manufacturer of lightweight flight data monitoring (FDM) systems, is exhibiting at the NBAA convention for the first time this year. The Fargo, N.D.-based company will highlight its Aircraft Logging and Event Recording for Training and Safety (Alerts) system, which includes flight-data capture hardware and a full suite of software analysis tools.

Piper Aircraft is launching a new initiative here at NBAA to promote its flagship Meridian single-engine turboprop as a business aircraft. The six-seat, $2.176 million M-Class Meridian features a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-42A 500 shp engine and Garmin G1000 glass panel avionics. Top cruise speed is 260 knots and maximum range is 1,000 nm.

Garmin’s G5000 avionics system is slated for retrofit in the Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP.

With the announcement that Garmin plans to certify a G5000 flight deck in the Beechjet 400A and Hawker 400XP, Elliott Aviation is demonstrating the system in a mockup at its NBAA booth (No. C8143). Elliott Aviation has already completed 100 King Air G1000 retrofits and sees the G5000 program as a way to allow Beechjet operators to keep flying their jets indefinitely.

West Star Aviation of East Alton, Ill. is expecting to obtain an FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) in the first quarter of 2014 for its RVSM solution for the Cessna Conquest II. The solution includes a dual-side Garmin G600 avionics display system and S-Tec 2100 digital autopilot.

Today at NBAA 2013, aircraft remanufacturer Nextant Aerospace revealed its next project–a King Air C90 outfitted with GE H80 turboprop engines, Garmin G1000 glass cockpit, zero-timed components, winglets, strakes and new paint and interior. Initial deliveries of the G90XT, a $2 million to $3 million like-new turboprop twin with single-lever power controls, will start later next year.

The Pilatus PC-12/47E is the subject of a new FAA Airworthiness Directive that describes the unsafe condition as common grounding of both the pilot primary flight display (PFD) and the electronic standby instrument system (ESIS). If the common ground fails, both navigation systems could fail simultaneously, which could result in loss of control.
