Three months after launching scheduled domestic service in the UAE with flights to Sir Bani Yas and Delma Islands from Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen Executive Airport, Rotana Jet extended its offering on September 19 to double-daily Embraer ERJ-145 service from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Fujairah. Exactly a week later, the upstart regional airline started twice-daily flights from Abu Dhabi International to Al Ain.

Despite what Avjet Routing (Stand C225) called a year of "uncontrollable economic factors," the Sharjah-based aircraft handling company said it recorded a year of strong growth, strong enough, in fact, that the company labeled its 2010 performance to date as "exceptional." Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen Executive Airport will commission its new instrument landing system and GNSS/VOR/DME-based precision approach this month, ending its VFR-only limitation. The former military air base now lays claim to being the Middle East’s only dedicated business aviation airport and further redevelopment is planned as it prepares to double its annual movements to more than 12,000 by 2014.

MBDA’s joint venture with Abu Dhabi-based Baynuna Aviation Technology, dubbed Baynuna MBDA Missile Technologies (BMT), has just been incorporated. It was announced in February as a 49-51 effort between the European missile manufacturer and the local company.

The first Middle East Business Aviation Conference will be held in Dubai on November 19, on the eve of the Dubai Air Show (November 20 to 24). Dubai show organizer Fairs & Exhibitions is running the event, which will be hosted by Abu Dhabi-based charter operator Royal Jet. Jack Olcott, president of General Aero and former president of NBAA, will serve as conference chairman.
