With less than two months to go before the opening of this year’s Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Abace) in Shanghai, organizers report that exhibition space for the event is sold out. NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen notes that a new pavilion area added to accommodate the overflow has also been filled. “To see that area sell out along with our original floor space underscores the significant interest in the show in China and across the Asian region,” he said.

Membership of the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) is growing as the group’s new leadership team takes steps to expand its operations. According to AsBAA chairman Jean-Noel Robert, 10 new member companies have joined the Hong Kong-based group in recent weeks.

On the last day of Ebace, NBAA signed a five-year agreement with the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport Co. to work exclusively together on business aviation events at the Chinese airport. This prevents the rival Shanghai International Business Aviation Show (SIBAS) from being held at Shanghai until after 2017, at the earliest.

This prevents the Shanghai International Business Aviation Show (SIBAS) from being held at Shanghai until after 2017, at the earliest.

NBAA said that major business aircraft manufacturers have committed to exhibit at the 2012 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Abace), which will be held February 28 to March 1 next year in Shanghai. NBAA’s announcement about the exhibitors’ commitments follows an Abace planning meeting held last month in Shanghai between Bolen and high-ranking government and Hongqiao Shanghai Airport officials.
