GE Aviation and Iberia Maintenance have signed an agreement that will provide Iberia with OEM technical support for its maintenance and repair services on CF34-8C/E engines. The agreement expands Iberia’s current overhaul capability for the CF34 engine and licenses GE’s engine maintenance technology.
Challenger, Global 7000 and Global 8000 operators now have two new engine service options. GE Aviation is offering its OnPoint engine maintenance coverage to Challengers equipped with GE CF34 engines.
GE Aviation will help oversee the design and construction of a new $120 million engine overhaul shop that Emirates Airline plans to build in Dubai. Plans call for construction to begin on the 226,000-sq-ft shop in the first quarter of 2012 and for operations to start in the fourth quarter of 2014.

FlightSafety International (FSI) has named Sikorsky Helitech of Brisbane, Australia, an approved maintenance training center to provide training for Pratt & Whitney Canada engines in Australasia. FSI will provide training courseware, a graphical flight simulator and other training aids.
ST Aerospace has become a TruEngine service provider and claims to be the first independent MRO shop to earn that distinction. It joins GE Aviation Services and Snecma, which have a 50-50 stake in CFM International. The TruEngine program, launched in 2008, was developed in response to a growing industry need to better understand the maintenance history of engines as they come up for resale.
