Operators of the venerable King Air 200 can now bring their avionics up to date. Kitchener Aero Avionics is offering a digital cockpit upgrade for the King Air 200. While Kitchener offers the full G1000 cockpit suite upgrade, it also offers a more cost-effective retrofit package that includes the dual Garmin G600 flight display system with Taws-B, replacing the standard heavy-iron avionics suite that originally came with King Air 200s.

Hawker Beechcraft Services facilities are now authorized installation centers for the CenTex Halo 250 gross weight increase modification for the Beechcraft King Air 200. The conversion adds 920 pounds of payload capacity by increasing the mtow of 200-series King Airs to 13,420 pounds from 12,500.

CenTex Aerospace of Waco, Texas, developed the modification and received FAA certification last October.

Prodigy Touch Garmin G3000

The new Garmin G3000-based Prodigy Touch avionics suite for the Embraer Phenom 300 was certified early May by Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil and the U.S. FAA; EASA approval is expected in April 2014.

Lumatech LED King Air

Since Luma Technologies received approval for its Lumatech LED caution/warning panels for Beechcraft King Air 200, 300, 350 and 1900D models, the company has been receiving significant interest in the product. The panels hold supplemental type certificate/parts manufacturer approval certification.

Phenom 300

Embraer Executive Jets delivered the first of up to 125 “Signature Series” Phenom 300s to NetJets during a ceremony on May 1 at the aircraft manufacturer’s Phenom assembly facility in Melbourne, Florida. In October 2010 NetJets placed a firm order for 50 of the specially outfitted light jets, with options for 75 more. Including all options, the order is worth more than $1 billion.

Charter operator Fast Air, based in Winnipeg, Canada, did its first Halo 250 gross weight increase modification on a Beechcraft King Air 200 equipped for aeromedical transport. Fast Air also offers aircraft management, maintenance and consulting services. The Halo 250 mod adds 920 pounds of payload capacity by increasing the maximum takeoff weight to 13,420 pounds, up from 12,500.

The Halo 250 mod was developed by CenTex Aerospace of Waco, Texas, and FAA certification was granted last October after three years of effort.

The Kodiaks are coming. At a ceremony at ABACE 2013 on Tuesday, Beijing General Aviation Industry Base Investment Holding Co. (BGA) signed a contract for delivery of two Quest Kodiaks with options for four additional aircraft from Blue Eagle Aviation Investment Co. of Beijing, exclusive distributor in Greater China for the single-engine turbine powered utility aircraft. Made by Quest Aircraft of Sandpoint, Idaho, these would be the first Kodiaks delivered in China.

UK-based CAE Oxford Aviation Academy placed an order for 35 Piper airplanes today at the Sun ’n Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Fla. The agreement includes firm orders for 22 Archer TX piston singles and 13 piston twins, as well as parts and service.

Quest Aircraft is displaying one of its Kodiak turboprop singles with its newly certified Timberline interior this week at the Sun ’n Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Fla. The new interior features Kydex panels with composites, which will contribute to a weight reduction and thus improve the aircraft’s useful load.
