Starting this year, AIN is conducting its North American FBO survey annually, having run the program every other year for the past 25 years. Now pilots can take more timely advantage of their colleagues’ ratings of the service facilities that keep business aviation flying. What makes the AIN survey uniquely useful is that it is just that–a survey.

Encore FBO and private-equity firm GTCR Golder Rauner announced late yesterday that they entered a joint definitive agreement to acquire Landmark Aviation’s FBOs from DAE (Dubai Aerospace Enterprise) Aviation Holdings. The transaction is for $436 million, “subject to adjustment as provided in the purchase agreement,” according to a disclosure filed publicly by DAE yesterday.

Trajen FBO Network, which late last year acquired ski-country’s Aspen Base Operation, has further enriched its portfolio of FBOs in another, very different, resort area. Last month, management of the growing chain announced it had purchased the Ranger Jet Center FBO at Kissimmee Gateway Airport near Orlando, Fla., home of Disney World, Universal Studios and several other vacation theme parks.

SheltAir completed interior renovations at its St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla. FBO and is planning to build 60,000 sq ft of new hangars at the airport. While SheltAir also renovated its Farmingdale, N.Y. FBO terminal, it is planning to build new terminal and hangar facilities there to serve the Northeast market. Also on Long Island, SheltAir upgraded the interior and exterior of its Westhampton Beach, N.Y.

Valley Oil Company, which distributes fuel to more than 400 FBOs, and Multi Service, an FBO credit-card company, have launched their free online interactive scheduling service.

Be aware that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has some special requirements regarding the disposal of such garbage.

According to Laura Everington at Universal Weather & Aviation, regardless of the point of entry into the U.S., federal regulations require disposal of these items in special bags and handling by USDA-approved services or individuals for subsequent incineration.

With the recent activation of ConciAir, Signature Flight Support has joined the list of FBOs offering online servicing orders. ConciAir enables customers to order fuel, food, hangar space and other services, as well as make hotel reservations and ground transportation arrangements at not only the 49 Signature locations around the world but also, in an unusual non-partisan move, at more than 600 other FBOs across the U.S.

Signature Flight Support has added two more FBOs to its European network. It has opened a new facility at Liege, Belgium, and has acquired the former ATAS base at Greece’s Thessaloniki Airport. The group has also re-opened its Paris Le Bourget FBO after extensive remodeling. The new Liege FBO features separate passenger and crew lounges, customs and immigration facilities, security screening and direct ramp access.
