Cutter Aviation has designated Phillips 66 to be its exclusive fuel supplier at its four FBOs–at Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), Phoenix Deer Valley (DVT), El Paso (Texas) International (ELP) and Albuquerque (N.M.) International (ABQ). All but the Deer Valley FBO had been pumping Phillips fuel.

Several new services and alliances have been added to Flightneeds.com, a Web site providing weather data, FBO information, airport descriptions, charter guides and other flight-planning resources. Among the new additions is “FBO pre-advisal,” which permits pilots to go online, contact participating FBOs and order fuel, rental cars, hotel reservations, ramp space, conference rooms, newspapers and other amenities.

Last month, Execair completed a new $700,000 FBO on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin. This will be the group’s 14th executive handling facility worldwide as it seeks to build a 25-strong chain of international FBOs.

The completion on Monday of Encore FBO’s $436 million purchase of the Landmark Aviation FBO and charter business from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise caps a series of acquisitions that have seen FBO chains grow to new heights. Encore is rebranding its eight FBOs and its now 41-facility chain as Landmark Aviation, which also includes aircraft sales, charter, parts and maintenance businesses, as well as Encore’s military fuel-supply operation.

Forty years ago, the first Avitat FBO in Brussels, Belgium, launched a network that now consists of more than 60 FBOs around the world, including four recently added locations. These include two Encore FBO facilities (soon to become Landmark Aviation) in Dublin, Ireland, and Nice, France, as well as Gozen Air Services in Istanbul, Turkey, and Sky Services in Naples, Italy.

The National Air Transportation Association is offering a new way for FBO owners and operators to learn more about their vocation at the first How to Build a More Successful FBO seminar at sea planned for October 23 through 26. The seminar will be held aboard the Carnival Sensation cruise ship during a Bahamas cruise that launches from Port Canaveral in Florida with a stop in Nassau. The seminar takes place on October 24 and 25 from 8 a.m.

FBO chain Atlantic has moved into its newest FBO, a $13.6 million facility built on a 13-acre ramp at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The lobby is surrounded by a two-story glass-fronted atrium topped with a soaring wing-like roof.
