ConocoPhillips has redesigned its Web site to help pilots find Phillips 66 FBOs and allow FBOs to take advantage of new technology. For FBOs, Conoco-Phillips offers the new WebSmart 66 service, which allows FBOs to create their own Web site hosted on the Phillips system.

FBO chain Trajen has purchased three more FBOs, bringing its total to 22 facilities. Trajen bought the three FBOs–located at Palwaukee Airport in Wheeling, Ill., and in Waukesha and Kenosha, Wis.–from North American Jet. The Kenosha facility is primarily a satellite maintenance base, according to Donald Prescott, vice president for strategic planning and corporate development.

Landmark Aviation remains in growth mode, buying the Corporate Jets FBO, maintenance and charter company at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona from FSS Airholdings early last month. “Corporate Jets is really a perfect fit for our acquisition profile,” said Landmark CEO Roger Wolfe.

ExecuJet Europe this month is opening what it describes as the first dedicated executive aircraft FBO at Berlin Schoenefeld Airport. The round-the-clock FBO will phase in services over the next six months. When completed at the end of this year, it will offer fueling, on-site customs and immigration clearance, a pilot lounge and a flight-planning suite, as well as catering and concierge services.

Landmark Aviation completed a $300,000 upgrade of its Dulles International Airport FBO interior in June, marking another in the FBO chain’s series of new flagship operations. Included in the upgrade is a quieter interior, easier viewing of the ramp from inside the FBO, additional plush seating in the main lounge and a new hearth fireplace. The pilots’ lounge was moved to the rear of the facility and the weather room to the front.

Everywhere we look in aviation today we can see long overdue signs of an economic recovery and return to the good old days. However, if you look beyond the obvious indicators, you will see clues that in the future our industry will not look the same as it did five years ago.

Los Angeles World Airports, which operates VNY, told AIN that a bidder has been selected but no information was available about the winner or its plans for the property. “I chose not to bid,” said Richard Michaels, vice president of marketing for Allied Capital’s Mercury Air Centers/Corporate Wings FBO chain.
