The Vector Aviation FBO at Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Son Nhat Airport in Vietnam recorded 162,349 aircraft movements in its first year (2011), according to customer relations manager Nicolas Dang Vu, who told AIN that “activity is continuously growing.”
Landmark Aviation made its Bay Area debut last month at Oakland International Airport. The new site occupies Hangar 5 and half of hangar 3 on the airport’s North Field, which was formerly part of Kaiser Air’s FBO until its lease on those facilities expired.
Exhibiting for the first time at an NBAA show this year, Amsterdam Software (Booth No. C10847) will demonstrate its FBO One system to American audiences. The Web-based FBO One software–tested at facilities outside the U.S. for the past four years–organizes almost every element of FBO operations, from tracking fuel sales and inventory control, to aircraft parking needs, catering requests and a variety of crew demands.
Million Air–which has more than two dozen FBOs in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean–announced here at the show that its Alexandria, La., facility is its FBO of the Year award winner. Meanwhile, the Salt Lake City location won NetJets’s FBO of the Year award.
In anticipation of the summer 2012 Olympics in the UK, Signature Flight Support has announced a dedicated customer-support team and a 24-hour hotline to assist customers with arranging slots, parking, hotels, catering, rental cars and other needs.
ExecuJet Europe is further expanding its growing network of FBOs with its appointment by the UK’s Cambridge Airport to run its FBO. The Switzerland-based group has won a competitive tender to operate a branded FBO in its own name at the airport, which is located 70 miles northeast of London.
While most FBO chains go to great lengths to emphasize their branding and the extent of their network, one marches to the beat of its own drum. Denver-based Ross Aviation has quietly assembled a portfolio of 14 locations, but not a single one has the name Ross in its title.
Landmark Aviation has purchased the assets of the Falcon Trust Air FBO at Miami’s Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport. The deal includes an 18,000-sq-ft facility with a library, gym, media room, pilots’ lounge, flight-planning center, passenger lobby, sleep rooms, VIP suites and a conference room. There are also 42,000 sq ft of corporate hangar space, 25 T-hangars and 11 box hangars.
Signature Flight Support launched a new program, dubbed Signature Select, that allows independent FBOs to use its same systems, service and safety standards, training, sales, marketing and purchasing power. Each member company maintains its independent brand with the addition of the Signature Select badge, Signature said.
Internet aviation information provider Globalair.com announced the debut of FBO Fuel Prices, its first real-time iPhone and iPad application designed specifically for locating FBOs with the most competitive fuel prices. Based on user-sortable criteria, the app searches for locations and generates a map and a list of the area airports reporting fuel.
