Bell Helicopter broke ground October 15 on its new Fort Worth, Tex. headquarters building.

Bell’s new, energy-efficient 210,000-sq-ft headquarters will house administration, support functions, program offices, a customer center and an integrated training facility. The Bell Helicopter training facility, currently located at Fort Worth Alliance Airport, will be moved to the new global headquarters.

Bell Helicopter broke ground this week on its new Fort Worth, Texas headquarters, a 210,000-sq-ft facility that will house administration, support functions, program offices, customer center and an integrated training center when it opens in 2014. The Bell Helicopter training facility, currently located at Fort Worth Alliance Airport, will also be moved to the new global headquarters.

The planned closure of Rialto Municipal Airport, also known as Art Scholl Memorial Field, in southern California sometime next year means even fewer places for aircraft owners to base their airplanes and yet another community without the benefits of a vibrant airport. Plans call for Lewis-Hillwood Rialto to build a mixed-use housing and office development on the airport’s 453 acres.

Helicopter pilots Jennifer Murray, 66, and Colin Bodill, 55, intend to take off on December 5 for a second attempt to fly round the world via the South and North Poles. They will fly their Bell 407 from Fort Worth Alliance Airport in Dallas. They expect
to travel for 169 days, visit 34 countries and cover 36,206 nm.
