StandardAero’s 350,000-sq-ft San Antonio facility has been awarded the 2014 Texas Environmental Excellence Award for Water Conservation. The company eliminated constant-overflow rinse tanks and implemented rinse baths analysis before replenishment and installation of new equipment that allows the reuse of industrial treated water through microfiltration, carbon filtration, reverse osmosis and evaporation. The net result enables the recycling and reuse of 84 percent of the water, representing millions of gallons per year.
Porvair Filtration Group’s Ashland, Va. facility is manufacturing last-chance filters for the aerospace industry. Last-chance filters and screens in aircraft fluid systems provide critical point-of-use protection for contamination-sensitive components, performing a complementary role to main system filters. Last-chance filters are designed to remove and retain contamination such as machining chips, burrs, wear debris and fluid breakdown products introduced during operation or downstream of the main system filters.
Aero medical transport provider EagleMed has placed an order with Donaldson (Booth No. 1002) for 11 inlet barrier filter (IBF) systems for the Airbus Helicopters AS350. The systems helps shield engines from damage from contaminants such as dirt, dust, salt and sand, as well as provide cost savings by reducing the need for unscheduled engine inspections.
Essex Industries is displaying and explaining the uses of its protective breathing equipment (PBE) at Booth No. 4314. The PBE offers eye, head and respiratory protection during emergency conditions in an aircraft at cabin altitudes, both by providing wearers with 60 minutes of protection and also delivering 15 minutes of aviator’s grade oxygen.
