XOJet appointed Shari Jones as its new senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Based at the company’s Bay Area headquarters, she will be responsible for the development of integrated brand strategies and their execution across the company’s product offerings and consumer communication channels. Jones will report directly to XOJet president and CEO Bradley Stewart. She comes from Levi Strauss, where she led consumer marketing for Levi’s and Dockers clothing in the Americas.

The FAA (Booth No. 2039, 2606) now requires “direct observation” during drug and alcohol tests. Effective November 1, observers must ask an employee to “raise his or her shirt, blouse or dress/skirt, as appropriate, above the waist; and lower clothing and underpants to show you, by turning around, that they do not have a prosthetic device.” An employee’s failure to cooperate constitutes refusal to take the test.

TAG Aircraft Interiors has reached an agreement with B/E Aerospace to offer a haute couture line of designer seats and divans for a variety of large and mid-size business jets. The line will be offered exclusively as part of cabin interiors produced by the partnership of TAG-AI (Booth No. 923) and Gianni Versace of Milan.

Thousands of seat-belt buckles and attachments installed in airliners and corporate jets are the subject of two separate recommendations. The FAA published a special airworthiness information bulletin alleging that D-ring-type fittings can inadvertently release the seat belts attached to them. The agency recommends that all D-ring seat belt attachment fittings be replaced with an improved design fitting.

The maiden flight yesterday of Nike’s newest Gulfstream V–a 2002 model acquired by the sneaker giant on November 2–ended uneventfully, but not as originally planned. Carrying Nike president and CEO William Perez, four other Nike executives, two pilots and a flight attendant, the aircraft took off yesterday morning from Nike’s headquarters in Hillsboro, Ore., on an intended trip to Toronto.

At the NBAA Convention in October, international design giant Gianni Versace of Milan previewed a number of exclusive Versace Design signature pieces for business jet cabin interiors. Earlier this year, Versace announced a partnership with TAG Group, parent company of TAG Aviation, to create an exclusive interior design service for owners of private jets.
