Air Services, a division of Constant Aviation providing off-wing aircraft support headquartered at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, has completed the requirements of the Cessna Citation NDI certification program and has been named an authorized independent NDI facility. The designation allows the company to perform NDT inspections and testing on all Cessna Citations.

Duncan Aviation Lincoln’s nondestructive testing (NDT) team has added weekend shift coverage to help meet shorter turn-time demands while enhancing customer service. “We needed to add a weekend shift to serve our internal and external customers better and meet the shorter turn times they were requesting,” said Marty Lincoln, Duncan Aviation’s accessories manager. The addition calls for both new hires and the repositioning of existing team members.

Sterling Partners, a private-equity firm, has purchased Tulsa, Okla.-based pilot and maintenance technician training school Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology. Sterling Partners also owns Desert NDT, a non-destructive testing services provider to the oil and gas industry. In addition to pilots and aircraft technicians, Spartan trains NDT technicians. Spartan grants bachelor’s degrees and has graduated about 90,000 students since it was founded in 1928.

Helicopter EMS provider Air Evac Lifeteam has entered the third level of the FAA’s safety management system (SMS) voluntary pilot project. Air Evac has 110 bases in 15 states and has been enrolled in the pilot project since February 2010. Dave Hardin, Air Evac’s director of safety, characterizes the company’s participation in the pilot project as a “challenging, but beneficial, process in the interest of safety.” Air Evac is only the third Part 135 operator to progress beyond Level 2, according to the FAA.

Jet Aviation recently added three customized service vehicles, bringing the total number available in the U.S. to five. The other two are located at Teterboro and Boston/Bedford. “Our mobile maintenance service vehicles provide the same quality of service that our customers get when they are in our service centers; it’s simply packaged ‘to go,” said Chuck Krugh, senior vice president of Jet Aviation St. Louis.

Pats Aircraft Systems has received quality certification approval to ISO9001:2008 and AS9100 standards.

AS9100C includes all the elements of ISO9000, as well as additional requirements specific to the aerospace industry, and according to the Georgetown, Del.-based cabin completion and MRO center, “represents a significant advancement in the requirements for compliance.”

According to online aviation job distribution network JSfirm (Booth No. 7244), the first two quarters of this year should be a good time to find a job in the aviation industry. The Fort Worth, Texas-based company released the results of its latest Aviation Industry Hiring Trends survey here at Heli-Expo. The survey indicates that companies across the aviation spectrum hired more people than they cut last year and expect to hire additional personnel this year.

Delta TechOps has received ISO 9001 certification from the International Standards Organization for its engine maintenance and landing gear shops. It is one of only a few airline maintenance, repair and overhaul service providers to achieve the certification, an internationally tested framework designed to manage an organization’s processes and help generate a high-quality product that satisfies customers’ expectations. The airline received ISO 9001 certification for its component maintenance shop in 2008.
