The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has urged the European Commission (EC) to correct what it views as anti-competitive aspects of its controversial emissions trading scheme (ETS). Unlike NBAA in the U.S., which has joined calls for ETS to be abandoned altogether for non-European operators, the European group supports ETS “as part of a multi-pronged approach to mitigating the rise of carbon emissions,” but is calling on the EC to ensure “fair and equitable implementation.”

A study commissioned by the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) and the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) contends that changes to slot allocation rules proposed by the European Commission would penalize regional carriers, regional airports and business aviation operators and lead to job losses in Europe.

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has appointed an airline lobbyist as its new leader. Fabio Gamba, most recently deputy secretary general of the Association of European Airlines (AEA), will join the business aviation association as CEO on September 1. EBAA’s current president and CEO, Brian Humphries, will remain as president.
