While London-area airports prepare for 2012 Olympics traffic, Cambridge Airport (Stand 780)–one of five regional facilities with 24/7 slot allocation for the event–is also looking well beyond, announcing here at the EBACE show a major expansion plan based on its proximity to the UK capital, access to Cambridge’s “Silicon Fen” and its room to grow (both space wise and in terms of having no cap on aircraft movements).

Grand Rapids-based FBOs Northern Air and Rapid Air have filed a Part 16 complaint with the FAA against the Gerald R. Ford International Airport and the Kent County Aeronautics Board charging the panel with discrimination and the violation of the airport’s 2004 master plan and its 2005 minimum standards.
Gulfstream has promoted Bill McLeod from sales director for the Midatlantic region to v-p of North American sales, central division. The Savannah airframer also appointed Christopher Ellender as a Europe-based senior regional sales manager for product support sales. Most recently, he led the global aircraft sales and acquisitions division for FirstFlight.
Hawker Beechcraft has appointed Karin-Joyce Tjon as its new CFO. Most recently she was managing director of global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal.
John Reimers, CEO of Seattle-based Aviation Partners Boeing, has resigned. Mike Stowell, the company’s chief technology officer and executive v-p of engineering, will assume the role as acting CEO.
Bombardier has promoted Éric Martel to president of customer services and specialized and amphibious aircraft. He succeeds James Hoblyn, who died in July. Before this appointment, Martel was the Canadian airframer’s senior v-p for commercial aircraft.
Bruno Spagnolini has been named CEO of AgustaWestland. He was promoted from his role as the company’s COO.
Alenia Aeronautica has appointed Amedeo Caporaletti as the company’s chairman. He succeeds Giorgio Brazzelli, who will take on another role within the Finmeccanica group.
Daher-Socata CEO Stéphane Mayer has added the title of president, replacing François Lépinoy, who will become president of the executive board for the Air Caraïbes Group.
