SkyTrac Systems of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, is displaying the latest version of its satcom-based flight tracking and following software at Booth No. 3506. Technical briefings on the new features of SkyWeb V 3.0 are being presented daily in conference room 380A in the convention center from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Evergreen Helicopters is flying in unmanned systems teams using an Elbit Systems Skylark I mini man-pack UAV to map Haitian relief. The small UAV was used to search for signs of life at orphanages in the remote mountains outside Port-au-Prince following the January earthquake. Boulder slides cut off ground access to many of these facilities. The Skylark flew at altitudes up to 5,200 feet.

Elbit Systems (Stand N65) is showing a big-screen multimedia presentation here at Singapore entitled “Networking in Action.” The presentation features real-life combat situations and demonstrates how the “systems’ interoperability, in offensive operations on enemy territory, enables achievement of crucial objectives.” It also allows viewers to experience combat experiences and missions with special effects replicating how the systems work.

Elbit Systems of America said that the installation of the first head-up display (Hud) and Kollsman enhanced-vision system (EVS) combination in a Challenger 604 is on track for certification early next year.

Gulfstream Aerospace last week marked the service entry of the 500th Gulfstream outfitted with the manufacturer’s enhanced vision system (EVS). This milestone was reached eight years after the Savannah, Ga.-based company began offering the flight-deck safety technology to large-cabin Gulfstream operators.

Israel’s Elbit showed the latest member of its UAV family for the first time at the Paris Air Show in June. The Hermes 90 has an 85-kilogram mtow, of which 25 kilograms can be sensor payload. It can be operated by a crew of two, who can turn it round between missions in about 15 minutes. Endurance is over 18 hours at an altitude of 15,000 feet.

Hermes 90, the latest member of Elbit’s UAV family, is on show here at Paris for the first time. Its appearance comes shortly after the creation of a joint venture between the Israeli company and General Dynamics to promote the sale of unmanned air systems into the U.S., which Elbit now considers a “home” market.

Vision Systems International, a joint venture between Elbit Systems and Rockwell Collins, has received a $54.1 million contract to begin production of Gen II helmet-mounted display systems for the F-35 Lightning II. Lockheed Martin awarded VSI the contract to deliver 52 displays and 30 aircraft shipsets. These HMDS components cover the requirements for Lots 1, 2 and 3 of F-35 low-rate initial production.
