The FAA has awarded supplemental type certificate approval to Innotech-Execaire Aviation Group to install its I-Cair cabin-air quality system on the Bombardier Global series. The I-Cair system was jointly developed by Dorval, Canada-based Innotech Aviation and Montreal-based Air Data, using its JetAir bio-protection system, with installations being done at Innotech’s completion center in Montreal.

Aero Toy Store finished a 45,000-sq-ft expansion at its FBO in Dorval, Quebec, in late May. The $7.6 million expansion includes a new 30,000-sq-ft hangar and 15,000-sq-ft completions center, complementing the existing FBO terminal and adding capability in Montreal similar to Aero Toy Store’s operation in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In Montreal, Aero Toy Store facilities encompass 200,000 sq ft.

Innotech Aviation plans to open a new 41,000-sq-ft paint preparation and application facility this July. The paint shop, which will accommodate aircraft as large as the Bombardier Global XRS, features state-of-the-art filters, an independent waste-water cleaning system and variable-speed airflow, making it, according to Innotech, the most modern and technologically advanced hangar of its kind in North America.

Transport Canada announced last month that Montreal Dorval Airport will be officially renamed Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport to honor Canada’s former prime minister. The name change won’t take effect, however, until January 1, and the YUL identifier will be retained. Trudeau, who served as PM from 1968 to 1979 and then again from 1980 to 1984, died from cancer on Sept. 28, 2000, at the age of 80.

Innotech Aviation (Booth No. 8039) has begun construction of a 41,000-sq-ft, two-bay paint facility, scheduled to be up and running by the first quarter of next year. The hangar, on Montreal’s Pierre Trudeau International (Dorval) Airport, will be large enough to accept business aircraft such as the Bombardier Global XRS, for which Innotech has been a preferred completion center since 2005.

Next month Montreal will host the 45th annual Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA) convention (June 13 to 15). The static display is to be held at the Skyservice Aviation FBO at Pierre-Elliot-Trudeau International Airport (formerly Dorval) and the event’s seminars and social functions are to be staged at the downtown Queen Elizabeth Hotel.
