Jet Aviation today announced that its maintenance operation at Moscow Vnukovo International Airport, one of the largest air transportation hubs in Russia and the closest to the Moscow city center, now offers 24/7 line maintenance services and AOG support. In addition, Jet Aviation Vnukovo provides AOG support at Moscow Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo Airports, as well as at other Russian airports.
Domodedovo International Airport
S7 Airlines announced here yesterday that it has signed a 13-year engine service per hour contract with Snecma Services covering its CFM56-5A engines. The new pact follows another signed two years ago. One of Russia’s largest domestic airlines, S7 Airlines bases its operation in Novosibirsk and has its largest hub at Domodedovo International Airport in Moscow.
Boeing and Russia’s privately owned East Line signed an agreement to establish Russia Technique at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport for maintenance of non-Russian-made airplanes. East Line plans to invest between $40- and $45 million in the project over the next 30 months. The facility will start work on Boeing 737s in about seven months, according to Boeing.
On November 27 Jet Aviation became the first international business aviation services group to establish a support operation in Moscow when it took possession of a hangar next to the Vnukovo-3 business aviation terminal. It has also begun construction on a 33,000-sq-ft hangar that should be completed early this year.
Unable to compete effectively with their European counterparts for top-end business travelers due to the heavy tax on imported business jets, Russian business aviation companies instead are focusing on FBO services.
Lufthansa Technik is opening a customer service base for component services and a component pool at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow. The new operation will be implemented in two phases.
