The new Pulkovo-3 FBO in St. Petersburg, Russia, officially opened for business on March 6, initially handling only domestic flights. According to operator JetPort, the purpose-built facility will be ready to handle international flights this month once customs and immigration facilities are fully in place.

Backers of the Pulkovo-3 FBO facility are in the business for the long haul, JetPort SPb general manager Sergei Pugin indicated to AIN.

AJ Walter Aviation and Russia’s Engineering–The Aviation Maintenance Holding company have signed an agreement aimed at enhancing parts support and provision in Russia through the establishment of an exclusive consignment stock pool of Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 parts. These components will be housed centrally at Engineering’s facility at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. The agreement is considered the first venture of its type in Russia between a Western independent parts specialist and an independent Russian MRO provider.

Russian aircraft interiors specialist AviaPrestige has forged an alliance with business aviation services group Avcom to make cabin refurbishment more readily available to aircraft owners in Russia. At Jet Expo this week in Moscow, the company announced that it has established a facility within the Avcom’s engineering base at Moscow Domodedovo Airport so that interior work can be done while aircraft are undergoing maintenance there.

Avcom, Russia’s oldest dedicated business aviation company, has started establishing badly needed maintenance infrastructure in the Siberian cities of Irkutsk, Omsk and Khabarovsk. The group also has just secured approval from Kazhakstan officials to work on business aircraft registered in the country and now plans to open a technical base there as well.

Russia’s seventh annual Jet Expo show is set to open on September 27, with organizers expecting more than 100 exhibiting companies from 27 countries and up to around 50 business aircraft at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport.

Moscow-based shared-use program Jet Travel Club (JTC) officially started operations last week. JTC members can make non-commercial flights on the club’s two CitationJets and two Hawkers and use an area in the VIP terminal at Moscow-Domodedovo Airport. Membership is not limited to Russian nationals; foreign citizens can buy a JTC card for access to the club’s Russian-registered business jets.

Jet Aviation Moscow Vnukovo recently announced that it has expanded its base and line service maintenance coverage to include Bombardier Challenger 300s and Gulfstream G200s under its EASA 145 maintenance approval. The operation has continuously expanded its service capabilities since it became a legal Russian entity in May.

Jet Aviation today announced that its maintenance operation at Moscow Vnukovo International Airport, one of the largest air transportation hubs in Russia and the closest to the Moscow city center, now offers 24/7 line maintenance services and AOG support. In addition, Jet Aviation Vnukovo provides AOG support at Moscow Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo Airports, as well as at other Russian airports.

S7 Airlines announced here yesterday that it has signed a 13-year engine service per hour contract with Snecma Services covering its CFM56-5A engines. The new pact follows another signed two years ago. One of Russia’s largest domestic airlines, S7 Airlines bases its operation in Novosibirsk and has its largest hub at Domodedovo International Airport in Moscow.
