XJet announced at the NBAA Convention this week that it plans to add 50,000 sq ft of ramp to its campus on the south side of Denver Centennial Airport. The facility includes a terminal; two climate-controlled hangars; auto storage; a conference room; and a pilots’ lounge.

The volume of general aviation arrivals for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Denver was less than predicted, according to Denver-area FBOs serving the turbine-powered fleet. As a result, the Special Traffic Management Plan (STMP) that Denver Tracon prepared for the event had not gone into effect by the start of the convention.

XJet’s private jet facility at Denver’s Centennial Airport opened late last month. XJet members get to use the new facility, which will eventually include four large hangars for member aircraft, a lounge, library, fine art gallery, conference rooms, underground car parking and a five-star restaurant. Members receive a substantial fuel discount that will also be available at participating FBOs elsewhere.

The 54,000-sq-ft former Learjet maintenance facility at Denver International Airport has been acquired by Denver-based Aviation Development Group, which plans to lease it in whole or in part to corporate aviation interests. The property includes 19,250 sq ft of office space and 34,750 sq ft of hangar area. Bombardier Aerospace vacated the premises a couple of years ago as part of a company-wide consolidation.
