Teterboro, N.J.-based Dassault Falcon Jet–the wholly owned subsidiary of Dassault Aviation that is responsible for Falcon sales and service in the Americas, Pacific Rim and China–celebrated its 40th anniversary on Friday. On Dec. 1, 1972, executives from Pan American Airways and Dassault Aviation signed an agreement to form what is now known as Dassault Falcon Jet to expand the U.S. market with Pan American, the launch customer for the Falcon 20.
Dassault Falcon has established a wholly owned foreign company, Dassault Falcon Business Services (Beijing) Co., in China to represent its business jet brand in the growing market. Jean Michel Jacob has been named as general manager of the subsidiary and John Rosanvallon is its chairman.
Dassault Falcon’s certified practical training program has passed the 300th trainee mark. The program, which provides training for Falcon operators and service center personnel, recently graduated Wu Jian Ming from Business Aviation Asia in China.
Beijing has been chosen as the location site for the Dassault Falcon Customer Service regional headquarters. Scheduled to open early next year, the office will be staffed by local specialists experienced in processing parts orders, warranty claims and FalconCare claims, and include at least two type-rated Falcon pilots to provide jump-seat support to new and existing Falcon customers. Separately, the airframer launched Dassault Falcon Aircraft Services China, a dedicated program with Shanghai Hawker Pacific at Hongqiao International Airport in Shanghai.
Aviation Partners (API) in September received FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) approval for its “high-mach blended winglets” on Dassault Falcon 50 series jets. EASA approval is expected to follow by year-end, according to Seattle, Wash.-based API (Booth No. 5035) .
At the NBAA Convention today, Dassault Falcon introduced yet another new version of its Falcon 2000 super-midsize twin. The new Falcon 2000LXS combines the range and amenities of the Falcon 2000LX with the short-field capabilities of the Falcon 2000S. The $32.8 million, Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C-powered Falcon 2000LXS will replace the 2000LX when it gains certification in 2014.
Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre General Manager Carey Matthews is upbeat about business aviation trends in mainland China. In a press briefing at NBAA’12 he reported that year over year growth is 13 percent for business aviation movements at both Hongqaio (SHA) and Pudong (PVG) airports in Shanghai, China. “We expect total movements to be around 4,000 at the end of 2012,” said Matthews.

Dassault is close to reaching agreement with Russia’s Avia Group to establish an authorized service center for its Falcon business jet series at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. The facility is set to open in 2013 and will be located near Avia’s new terminal building, which was inaugurated earlier this year.
