Charter volume is dropping significantly in some markets, according to information provided to AIN by charter industry insiders. Recent increases in the size of the business aviation fleet are contributing to this problem, said William Quinn Jr., chairman of Aviation Management Systems in Portsmouth, N.H.

Sentient Jet, which is buying TAG Aviation USA and all of its assets from TAG Holding, was expecting to close the acquisition around the end of last month. The Sentient purchase is for what is left of AMI Jet Charter after its charter certificate was revoked, and Sentient has offered AMI customers/aircraft owners the opportunity to move their aircraft onto one of Sentient’s charter certificates, which most have done.

One of the major irritants with software is that few maintenance programs interact with one another. Users might have to log maintenance with one software program and manipulate parts inventory and ordering with another, while keeping track of labor management with a third. But this is about to change.

Sentient said that sales of its block-charter private jet card grew 82 percent in the first quarter over the same period a year ago. The Norwell, Mass. company, which books time on select charter operators, says that it now has more than 1,700 cardholders.
