Avantair continues to take deliveries of new Avanti II turboprop twins and expects to more than double the size of its all-Avanti fleet over the next three years from 52 to 107 aircraft, the Clearwater, Fla.-based company said. Meanwhile, its aircraft card program continues to grow, with first-quarter sales reportedly increasing 183 percent from year-ago levels.
Future technicians can now take advantage of a combined FAA Airframe and Powerplant mechanic and associate degree program offered by St. Petersburg College in Clearwater, Fla., and National Aviation Academy.
Per-seat, on-demand charter operator DayJet has added two primary “DayPort” and 14 secondary “DayStop” destinations to its network. DayJet now offers access to more than 60 airports in the southeast U.S. The two new DayPorts are in Orlando and St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla. New DayStops are in South and North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Waterford, Mich.-based Tradewinds Aviation is changing its name to Corporate Eagle Management Service and is discontinuing its flight training operations. According to president and CEO Rick Nini, the company will focus solely on its flight department services. Corporate Eagle has a fleet of 11 King Airs and Hawkers and serves 31 Southeastern Michigan program members. The company will also be opening a new facility at St.
Avantair, the Clearwater, Fla.-based fractional that operates Piaggio Avantis exclusively, reported an 85-percent increase in Q2 revenue over the same period a year earlier. Sluggish deliveries from Piaggio contributed to an overall loss, though the company does expect to break even upon reaching 40 aircraft in service. If current estimates hold, that will happen by the end of this year.
Piaggio Avanti frax operator Avantair has a new owner–Alfred Rapetti–and in the middle of next year will relocate its headquarters from Caldwell, N.J. to Clearwater, Fla. The company originally opened the Florida facility this summer as a southeast maintenance and operations base. Avantair currently operates 21 Avantis and plans to double that number by the end of the year.
