Cathay Pacific Airways has signed a letter of intent with Airbus covering 30 A350 XWBs and plans to exercise purchase rights covering six Boeing 777-300ERs, the airline announced today. The value of the orders would total some HK$75 billion ($9.7 billion).

Marco Cavazzoni says to mark his words: “We’ll deliver the first 747-400 Special Freighter on December 13. Cathay Pacific Airways will put it into revenue service within a couple of days.” Cavazzoni, who leads the 747 passenger-to-freighter conversion program for Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, added, “We’re told that such a firm date is unusual…customers will keep that date in their pocket.”

Dassault recently delivered the first Falcon business jet to be registered in China. The Falcon 2000 is being operated by Citic, said to be China’s largest state-owned financial services holding company. Citic expects to take delivery of a Falcon 900DX late next year.
