Plans for Rockwell Collins to introduce high-speed satcom using the Inmarsat Global Express Ka-band broadband system in 2014 have changed as the two companies “recently discontinued negotiations on an agreement to develop a joint global Ka broadband solution for the aviation industry,” according to Rockwell Collins. “Accordingly, Rockwell Collins is evaluating alternative broadband solutions as part of its continued commitment to provide comprehensive connectivity offerings.”
Avionics manufacturer Rockwell Collins has selected FlightApps of San Francisco to deliver supplemental services including installation, training, customer consultation, application support and hosting for Rockwell Collins’s Ascend Flight Operations System (FOS) software.

Rockwell Collins last month announced plans to acquire AR Group and its affiliated companies, which includes business aviation trip support services provider Air Routing International. Under the agreement, Rockwell Collins will acquire all of AR Group’s shares for an undisclosed amount. The transaction was expected to close late last month or early this month.
