Bombardier and Duncan Aviation (Booth No. 6763) have ­extended their authorized service center agreement to include the latter’s newest ­maintenance facility, located in Provo, Utah. Duncan Aviation-Provo joins Duncan Aviation’s full-service ­facilities in Lincoln, Neb., and Battle Creek, Mich., as a ­Bombardier ­authorized service center. Duncan Aviation-Provo began ­operations in early August.

Bombardier BD-100-1A10, Wheeling, Ill., Feb. 24, 2010–The Challenger 300 was substantially damaged when it was struck by a de-icing vehicle while preparing for departure for a Part 91 flight from Chicago Executive Airport. Marginal VMC existed at the time of the accident. Neither pilot on board was injured.

Silentium Air has received FAA STC approval for its Silentium Air 300 soundproofing system for the Bombardier Challenger 300. According to Nicholas Houseman, the company’s president, the system will “generally reduce overall cabin noise levels by at least three decibels, which approximately represents an average 30-percent reduction in perceived noise throughout the cabin.

Bombardier reported $4.6 billion in revenues for its fiscal third quarter (ending October 31), which is on par with the previous year. However, third-quarter revenues at Bombardier Aerospace fell from $2.3 billion in 2008 to $2.1 billion due to fewer aircraft deliveries, namely a 42-percent drop in business jet shipments. During the quarter, Bombardier delivered 33 business jets versus 57 in 2008.

For the 12th time in as many months Bombardier Aerospace has added a new line maintenance facility (LMF), most recently in Finland. The company has also increased its capability at two existing facilities in Hong Kong and Oregon. Jetflite of Helsinki is Bombardier’s first LMF for Bombardier business aircraft in Finland, providing line maintenance support for Learjets and the Challenger 300, 604, 605 and 850.

The first of what could be as many as 80 Bombardier Challenger 300 super-midsize jets has entered service with block charter operator XOJet. The airplane features a distinctive interior developed by Bombardier for XOJet. It is on static display at Orlando Executive Airport.

On July 31, less than two months after receiving FAA and Transport Canada certification, the new Bombardier Challenger 300 super-midsize business jet was awarded JAA approval. The first customer Challenger 300 is scheduled to enter service in the fourth quarter.

At last month’s Paris Air Show, Rockwell Collins announced certification by U.S. and Canadian authorities of the company’s Pro Line 21 cockpit in the super-midsize Bombardier Challenger 300. The flight deck contains four 12- by 10-inch LCDs and integrates a number of advanced technologies, including TCAS II and TAWS, as standard. Options include turbulence-detection weather radar and 3-D FMS navigation maps.
